Vocabulaire:
Le serveur (m.), la serveuse (f.) the server
monsieur sir / mr.
madame madam / mrs.
>>> To address the servers, use "monsieur!" or "madame!" (never "Garçon", which is too old-fashioned). To call a server, you can also say: "S'il vous plaît!"
You will be addressed as "madame", "monsieur" or "mademoiselle"("miss").

"Qu'est-ce que...?"
is used to ask a question starting with "What" -it literally means "What is it that...?"

- It has many letters but the pronunciation is really short: "Kess-kuh" / "Kesk"
2 important questions you will be asked, as a customer:
"Qu'est-ce que vous buvez ?": What do you drink? What are you drinking? - Lit. "What is it that you drink?"
"Qu'est-ce que vous voulez ?": What do you want? Lit. "What is it that you want?"
--> You will be addressed as "vous" (the polite "you") and you should use "vous" too.

My tip of the day: never order regular tea ("thé")in a French café unless you want an overpriced not-so-good hot beverage! You are however in for a treat if you order"thé à la menthe" (mint tea) in North African-owned places. For herbal tea, order "tisane".
